One Crazy Weekend

Hello my wonderful children of music. It is time again for another video and photo filled adventure into the world of Thanks For Nothing. One where the behind the scenes doors are opened up and the reality of being of being in a band is exposed. This is where those who would not be in attendance can relive, or just simply view, occurrences that took place outside of their driveable realm...Not really, this is just what happened this weekend.

So this past Friday and Saturday we were playing at the River Market Brewery in Kansas City and at the Rela
y For Life Cancer Benefit/Cook Family Reunion/Wicked party in Iola, KS. Our homie's Justin and Bob accompanied us on the excursion (which happens to the be the land rocker we took). Let's recap.

FRIDAY

KC is about 3 hours from Springdale, AR, which is where we set sail from. Within the first 10 minutes, we had 3 minutes of video footage and had already started the trip of with a bang... We arrived a tad bit oppositely early to the River Market Brewery, broke what had to be a record in setting up a PA system/ rock show, and played for an intimate (or just small) crowd. We had a blast though and we made friends with everyone at the show. Definitely a good time. Liz at the River market totally took care of us...

SATURDAY

All I have to say about Saturday is, HOLY CRAP. After waking from our slumber in KC, we mozzied onto Iola, Kansas. After passing the bass pro shop, we all were whipped into a frenzy. Sporting goods!?!? hunting gear?!?!? Fishing?!?!?!? Some taxidermists finest work?!?!? YES!!!! We pulled a 180 in the middle of the highway, drove over the median into oncoming traffic. Bob and Justin almost fell off the top of the trailer, but we had them strapped down pretty tight with some bungee cord and determination.

Here are just a few pics of the madness that took place.

So
after pretty much wasting time, we headed to Iola and met up with Jeremy, the ultimately awesome dude who was pretty much running the Benefit we were playing that night.

Lemme just say this...Jeremy Cook is the man. He hooked us up with rooms, food, a stage, power supply, and a heckuva party. This guy should be doing this for a living, just putting on parties. It was insane...

The show in Iola was incredible. It was basically the backbone of our fanbase with all of their friend's there. We had probably more fun at that show than we have ever had playing music. We also made more friends than we will probably ever make at a show. We all wish every show had pulled pork bbq sandwiches and briskets with cheesy potatoes, baked beans, and cole slaw. Oh my gosh, I miss it already.

So anywho, the people of Iola are the same group of friends that come out to the shows in Joplin, Parsons, and
soon Jenks. The nicest people we have ever had the opportunity to be around. Thanks to everyone involved this weekend and we can't wait to be back next year.

Highlight of the night: Watching a group of Kansas fans calling the hogs! Don't worry, we also delivered with the "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk chant." (Is that right? Rock Chalk Jayhawk? I googled it to make sure I didn's crew that up.)

Anywho, here are a few more pics and one SLAMMIN video from the trip. WORD!

The Prom

So this last weekend, we got a rare Friday Night off... Chad and I (Travis) went out with some homies and watched the Diamond Hogs beat Tennessee...

Saturday Night, we did something we have never done. We played a prom. We were nervous, did not know what to expect due to use not knowing prom's still had bands. The outcome ended up being one of our best shows. All of you "young adults" were incredible. Had a blast.

Statler and Waldorf were there to judge us...
